Celebrate You in 2022

This new year is all about being yourself and celebrating the person that you are right now.

Never before in history have we been at this point in our lives and it's time to push aside all the pressures, attitudes and material things that do not represent the real person that we are or where we are going moving forward this year.

Celebrate how far you've come and let your own intuition guide you forward while focusing on inspirations that move you into becoming the real you in 2022.

It's time to dump a lot of stuff you've accumulated and wonder how you
got it in the first place.

Remember that in 2022, nothing is too big that you can't handle.

Dream big in 2022 and see what comes into your reality.

Home Style

Since it seems almost the entire globe is on lockdown and in hiding from impending anxiety, it doesn't mean you can't switch that around and decide to look awesome and continue to create magic inside your home. People are emerging everyday in their towns and it's wonderful to see how people are using their time providing that they don't need to worry about their income.

Time to rethink that resume and start looking at the job announcements in your town. The jobs are there it just takes a bit of doing to find them. For those that are not worried about their income, now's the time to organize that house of yours. Go through old photos and put them in frames and photo albums. Look around at your nest and see if there are any ideas for positive change. I've gathered some inspirational photos from around the web that might spark an idea and for you to take it to the next level.

Clear out the clutter.  Now's the time to implement that minimalism
in your home. Turn off the electricity and turn on the candles.

Pare down your makeup and hairstyling. Sit out on your patio
or near an open window to get some sun and air. Apply lip gloss every day.

Put ribbons in your hair and dance with a favorite partner.
Social distancing be damned; your home is your castle.

EXERCISE! Put on a YT video and get going. If you don't have
legit weights, then lift those gallon containers of milk or water.
Focus on a different set of muscle groups every other day.

Don't forget to SMILE.

Fashion Fresh

Did you know that April Fool's day on April 1 is the beginning of the pagan New Year? Yes, before everything pagan became Christianized, the new year was April 1 and not January 1. So when the pagans still insisted on keeping their new year date of April 1, the regular people all made fun of them and called them fools and played pranks and stuff. Oh well, at least with spring upon us, everything is starting new and fresh and that means you can start fresh too. Time to throw out all the stale stuff in your closet and buy new things. It kind of makes more sense that the start of a new year would be the Spring when everything is in bloom and not Winter when everything is frozen and dying off.

The hippy tie-dye pattern is back for Spring 2019. I am not a fan of it but some April fools might like it.

As usual, a lot of stuff can be skipped that comes off the runway and this is one of them unless I guess you are a doctor that's wanted in fashion surgery to repair a falling skirt hem.

Eye on Spring

There are a lot of new trends on the fashion runway showing the makeup looks for Spring 2018 and some are very wearable, others, you need to be either very young or very dumb and follow every fad out there. Extreme makeup can be worn if you are young and have very good skin, since metallic eye shadows, glosses, and bright colors will only highlight your skin flaws. Other than that, you may look stupid if you are over 25 and wear extreme makeup providing you are willing to be stared at, like artists, actors, models, painters, you get it, not really for the average person shopping at the dollar store.

That being said, please never do this new trend. It looks like a plastic surgeon's laundry marker that's still on your face drawing out exactly where he needs to do his nips and tucks.

Other trends are very wearable. It's basically concealer matching your skin tone, add soft eyeliner and shadow, and then a dusting of light color on your face along with a natural lip color. You can add more color to your lips either day or night, depending on your style.

At Sonia Rykiel, all neutral shades to highlight
clear skin. Add basic mascara with eye shadow
on the top lid to the brow bone and along the
bottom lashes, then add peachy lipstick.

Margot Robbie wears eyeliner on the top lash,
a light dusting of eye shadow, minimal color on the rest
of her face.

You can wear this look from Manish Arora if you are very young
and have clear smooth skin, otherwise, the bright color
will emphasize your flaws. This may not be the look
you want at the office, but it's a fun daytime look
for browsing the shops on Main Street.

Have fun experimenting with different makeup as you learn to develop your own style.

Style at the Oscars

The 90th Academy Awards was held on Sunday [March 4th] and we love to see what the stars are wearing at this event. I only saw a few beautiful dresses that night and why not highlight a few of the winners and losers of the red carpet right here and now.

You may be able to duplicate the looks yourself for your special formal occasions or for those dreamy date nights in exotic locales that we all wish for and they do come true for some of us. As the celebrities say on the red carpet interviews, never give up on your dreams and you could find yourself at the Oscars one fateful night in your future.

Sparking and retro, this "Gal" can pull it off and looked fabulous.

A bit too much of Xena Warrior Princess. It would have looked
better with a slim clingy bottom half without the girdle look.

I like the cut of this dress but Margot needed to
ditch the tinsel around the front.

If you've got the figure for this dress like Mary does,
then go for it. I liked the sparkle and drape of the dress
highlighting her curves.

Greta needs to reinvent this dress like she did with her career.
It's a bit frumpy looking and emphasizes the large lower body.

The dress looks backwards and that slit in front is way too high.
Skip this fashion disaster.

Jane's got a great figure but I am not a fan of the
white-out blizzard look for older ladies. A softer neutral
or darker color would have made her skin tone and face
stand out and not look dried out.

I hope you enjoyed the Oscars this year as we love to watch the ladies of the red carpet and those who bring home the golden statuette. So, when can we get a new gender neutral Oscar statuette? Or have a competition to redesign that statue for the coming seasons of change?

Spring into Fashion

I like this time of year as it's still cold outside yet we will slowly transition to the coming Spring and wearing lighter clothing.

I've picked up a few fashion ideas from the runways and from a few celebs attending the fashion shows and thought I would share them here. I still maintain that you need to look at the designers from the runways in the fashion world and not to celebrities. Most cannot dress themselves and look sloppy or odd when trolling around the streets between jobs. Many styles from the runway can be copied or adapted to your own lifestyle as normally you will fall into categories of either classic, trendy, traditional, bohemian, eclectic, or however you define your style, and you can get less expensive versions than from the designers' collections.

If you don't have to dress in a suit and tie or skirts and jackets for your job, you can be a bit more casual during your work day. I like these styles that you can wear now if you lean towards a more classic personal style.

Louis Vuitton, Paris Fashion Week 2018.

Can't decide to wear the dress or the pants? Then wear both. If you don't mind being stared at, then you may want to duplicate this fashion forward ensemble.

Balenciaga, Spring 2018.

The bold colors and eclectic styles look good on the younger set and by gosh, you know who you are. I know, some don't like to dress "their age" but there are benefits to it. As you get a bit older and wiser, you stick to what works for you without looking like you're trying too hard. If you want to adapt this look to your lifestyle without standing out in the crowd a bit too much, just switch out the colors to more neutral tones.

Happy New Year

It's 2018 and now is the time to get rid of the stuff that isn't working for you anymore and bring in fresh and new ideas that will make this year more prosperous than ever.

A trick practiced by many is to think about how you want 2018 to read by the end of the year. What things would you like to write down in that diary that you were proud of and accomplished for yourself. That can help you plan your time and not think about making resolutions but actually jotting down some ideas without getting caught up in details at this point. An important point to remember is to not be so strict about it. You can change your mind, you can introduce new ideas as you progress through the coming weeks of the new year.

Jot down your daily routine and find where your obstacles are. Is it being focused on just getting out the door? Do you need to schedule more time in the morning to do some stretches and meditation first? Are you too busy for a good lunch and just grab some awful burger and fries? Do you overeat at dinner and need to schedule more small meals during the day? How about incorporating an actual to-do list for your work day so you can prioritize what needs to be done and what can wait. Most people lead very busy lives and just taking a beat and stopping and thinking about where they are tripping up, can make a big difference in getting organized.

How about writing down your disappointments that happened last year, what happened and why. Is it something you can fix this year? If not, then you need to chock it up to experience and move on.

Are you still smoking? Now is a
good time to transition away from
that unhealthy habit.
How about writing down what your ideal day would look like? I realize if you are tied to a job you may not have much choice. But you can still incorporate more of your own unique personality and choices in what you want to do with your own time throughout the day and into the weekends.

Time to throw out all that old makeup that you've had forever and is dry as dust. Soak those brushes in a glass cup using your favorite liquid makeup remover or pro brush cleaner. Soak them overnight and thoroughly rinse them with water and wipe off the excess water with a towel and let them air dry. Toss that mascara if it's over three months old and any makeup you have not used in a year since it probably means it was a bad purchase. Sometimes I just keep extra makeup as a backup in a pinch, but for the most part, I do not hoard makeup or products I am not using and don't intend on using. Don't feel bad about tossing anything you got free with a purchase. Try the products and if they don't work for you, throw them out immediately.

Lay out your outfits and see what isn't working anymore and either toss it or donate it. If you lean towards either dark or light colors, then make sure the color schemes can easily be mixed and matched which will save time and you can start to develop your own unique style with colors and fabrics that make you feel good when you wear them.

Clear out the clutter in your house by making piles of what you want to keep and what gets donated or thrown in the trash. If you are unsure, don't get all upset over it. Just throw things in boxes and stack them in an empty corner in a spare room or in your closet and deal with it when you're ready. Having items in boxes that you are not sure if you will ever use again or just want to keep out of sentiment, will at least get them off the floor or from being scattered around your house. Like if you have a bunch of shoes you no longer wear but don't want to part with them, throw them in a box and store them in a closet or under a bed. If you have trinkets or photos you don't want to necessarily part with, then throw them in decorative boxes and stack them in a corner of your bedroom. Keep out a few things on display and rotate the items throughout the year. This way you can see what you really like and what isn't your style anymore and you can donate them to charity.

Have fun this year and remember, if you make mistakes it means you are trying new things which will only enhance your life now and in the future.

Fixer-Upper

How many times do we love something we see, whether we see it on a celebrity or on the runway and we can't wait to see it in stores but we would have to fix it to actually make it wearable. I have done this many times and it just doesn't work out the way I think it will and I end up throwing the item in the garbage. Don't do this with your life. When you see something you love and have to have it, think first, can you really wear it in the real world? Is it for shopping in the Village where nobody knows who you are and doesn't care? Is it for the workplace and you won't be snickered at behind your back? Or, could you wear it to the local mall shops where you might meet a friend from the neighborhood?

Fashion by Junko Shimada
Spring/Summer 2018.
Here is a dress that might work [photo, right] but let's get real. You would have to wear a giant flesh-colored opaque slip under it or you might get arrested and please, take that thing off your head since you look really stupid with that cheap plastic looking palm branch on your head. But the dress is pretty, right? Wrong, don't attempt to fix this, just pass it up.

What about this style below for your wedding? Well, I suppose if you are married to the idea of wearing something outrageous for your special day, then you must commit to it, but you will be extremely uncomfortable in a wacky getup and remember, those wedding photos are forever. I would opt for a neutral style that won't embarrass you down that long aisle of life whether or not you keep the husband or the gown.

Your fashion choices don't have to be boring, but think about where you want to wear it and your body type, and you will never go wrong.
