Only For Style Sheet Readers: Diet Secrets

Here is the one thing all the rich and famous know, even the rich and famous wannabees working their way up their respective ladders. Okay, what is the secret to dieting? What makes us fat? Drum roll...FOOD. Yes, eating makes you fat, all food makes you fat, it depends on quantity, quality, and if you are burning off more calories than you eat. Stop buying into all the massive marketing of movies, TV shows, books, the latest one being something from Katie Couric, the failed TV show news anchor that has been dumped onto an internet-only news show, she is scrambling for an income, so jumped on the bandwagon of knowing what makes us fat. Well, guess what, it's food.  I don't need a movie to tell me that.

Stop eating, get up and move, do a sport if you are able, and if you don't like to emerge from your home, plug in that computer and start accessing some exercise videos online. Years ago I took up weight lifting, bought them in High School, I stopped from time to time over the years, but they are always there, on the floor, and I continue to pick them up doing my favorite exercises with them. I got a book from the library so I could learn the form and exercises; it was a weight lifting book that taught basics with photos of Arnold Schwarzenegger demonstrating each exercise. Through the years I learned more exercises and always take out of my video closet "Fabio Fitness" which provides instruction on exercising with weights, and it is for men and women, so you can adjust the weight according to your fitness level. The exercises stand the test of time, it's not about being creative or hopping up and down, it's about the basics, and yes, for both men and women, start picking up those weights.

Face it, most of us, no matter how much we diet and exercise, will never look like we did in our 20's, no matter how rich or famous. But it doesn't mean you sit around and do nothing. Most celebrities no longer worry about their weight past a certain age, but, don't be discouraged. Focus on eating small portions, cut down or eliminate sugary desserts, high salt food, and fatty animal based food products. Highly active people can take in more calories than sedentary people, but get up and move your body, that is what Richard Simmons said, oh, about 40 years ago, and it is still true. Put your money in your pocket and stop buying books about diet and exercise, just do it. Walk, run, ride horses, lift weights, don't be intimidated and you will feel better and look better as a side effect.
